On Tuesday, June 11th, Bosnian Muslims held a funeral for a nine-month old baby and her family – victims of Visegrad massacre of 1992. Visegrad is a municipality bordering with Srebrenica.

Faced with frequent death threats, survivors of the massacre asked the Serb authorities to send at least one Police officer to secure the funeral from possible attacks. Local Serb authorities in Visegrad refused to offer any assistance.

When saddened relatives arrived at the Stražište cemetery in Visegrad they were shocked to find desecrated baby’s grave. The Careva Mosque was stoned and windows broken. The vandals also killed a dog and placed him next to murdered baby’s grave.

Bodies of Ibrisim and Smaila Memisevic, their daughter Mediha Ahmetspahic, and nine-month old baby granddaughter Amela, were killed by Serbs in 1992. They were dumped into Veljem Lug mass grave. Six years ago, their remains were excavated from the mass grave and recently DNA identified. Amela’s father, Suljo, survived the massacre.

Boban Šimšić, who worked for the RS Police in Visegrad, was found guilty for murders of 3 our of 4 above named victims and sentenced to 14 years in jail.

This is just horrible. How twisted your mind has to be to hate a dead baby? I wonder how somebody decent didn’t stop these thugs.

@elvedina2006: You can't possibly expect someone in the Visegrad municipality to arrest these thugs when the same people who murdered Bosniak civilians in '92, who destroyed mosques and burnt Bosniak houses are still living and working in Visegrad.

The murderer of these 4 innocent civilians is Rade Capara who is working as a teacher in Elementary School "Vuk Karadzic"

Ethnically cleansed Visegrad had experienced some of the worst civilian atrocities and massacres during the war of the 90s. Serbs killed and/or burned alive thousands of civilians in Visegrad: women, men, pregnant mom's, children, babies, elderly… After all I have seen and experienced as a victim of war, I am still amazed that some individuals have so much hatred against minorities in their neighbourhood. I cannot comprehend how sick can a mind be to disturb a freshly dug grave of a little baby-girl. These kinds of psychopatic cases should be studied more closely by psychologists and psychiatrists. If these people are caught early and stopped, we can prevent hatred and murders in the future.

Bosnia-Herzegovina's educational system should ensure mandatory courses teaching students about the tolerance and the importance of human rights. Hatred is a negative and unnecessary human emotion that can bring nothing good.

Healthy society needs to confront these types of unspeakable crimes and condemn them publicly. Unfortunately, not even one Serb politician from RS condemned this hatred-inspired incident.

What Anonymous June 20 says simply reinforces the need to make it plain and clear to the Republika Srpska authorities that not only does RS have no right to consolidate the achievements of genocide by seceding from BiH, it is still under obligation to pursue the perpetrators of crimes like the murder of this baby and her parents.

What an extraordinary place RS is. I wonder how well it would play with inward investors to suggest they "Come and do business in Republika Srpska where your children can be taught by child murder suspects".

That's a learning experience most competitor locations would find difficult to match.
